About Ballast Boats Built for the water. Driven by passion. Powered by community.
01 Our Story
Ballast Boats was born from a simple passion: a love for the water, wake sports, and the experiences that bring people together.
We set out to create something different. Not another boat classifieds website, but a purpose-built destination where premium wake boats, intelligent technology, and a passionate community come together.
We believe buying or selling a premium wake boat should be as exceptional as the boats themselves. And we believe owning one should come with access to the knowledge and community that make every day on the water better.

03 Confidence & Transparency
Exceptional Detail. Greater Buyer Confidence.
Traditional boat listings often leave buyers with more questions than answers. We believe the details matter.
Our listings combine comprehensive specifications, detailed photography, and AI-enhanced research and analysis to provide a deeper understanding of each boat's features, equipment, and capabilities.
Every AI-enhanced listing is reviewed and approved by both the seller and Ballast Boats staff, bringing together advanced technology and human oversight to help buyers make more informed decisions.
Every Question Asked. Every Answer Visible.
Transparency doesn't stop with the listing. Every Ballast Boats auction features a public Q&A ledger, where prospective buyers can ask questions directly about the boat and sellers can respond with detailed answers, supporting photographs, and additional information.
Unlike private conversations that leave other buyers in the dark, questions and responses are visible to everyone. Nothing gets buried in private messages, and every prospective buyer has access to the same information.
It's a more open, accountable way to buy and sell — one that builds trust, reduces information gaps, and gives buyers greater confidence before placing a bid.
Because when you're making a significant purchase, there should be no hidden questions.

04 A Better Auction
Transparent Auctions. A Better Experience.
Buying a premium wake boat is a significant investment. The process should feel straightforward, not intimidating.
Ballast Boats brings together detailed listings, transparent bidding, and clear auction terms in an environment designed to give buyers confidence and sellers an exceptional way to showcase their boats.
No cluttered classifieds. No endless searching through unrelated vessels. Just a dedicated marketplace where exceptional wake boats take center stage.
How Our Auctions Work
The winning bid is the price. Period.
At Ballast Boats, we believe transparency should extend beyond the listing and into the transaction itself.
When an auction closes, the winning bid represents the total purchase price of the boat. There is no additional buyer premium added by Ballast Boats.
To confirm the purchase, the winning bidder pays 5% of the final auction price to Ballast Boats. This amount is applied toward the total purchase price and retained by Ballast Boats as its platform fee.
Once that payment is confirmed, direct communication opens between the buyer and seller so they can coordinate the remaining transaction.
The buyer pays the remaining 95% directly to the seller. Ballast Boats does not serve as an escrow agent, take possession or ownership of the boat, or handle title transfers or the remaining purchase funds.
One winning price. No added buyer premium. A straightforward path from auction to ownership.

A Simple Example
For a boat with a winning bid of $100,000:
$100,000 — Final winning bid and total purchase price.
$5,000 — Paid to Ballast Boats as the 5% platform fee, applied toward the purchase price.
$95,000 — Remaining balance paid directly to the seller.
Total paid for the boat: $100,000. Not $105,000.
The buyer and seller then coordinate payment of the remaining balance, title transfer, and delivery directly.
Ballast Boats provides the marketplace that brings the transaction together. The buyer and seller complete the sale.

05 Wake Lab
Wake Lab. The Science of the Perfect Wake.
Anyone who's spent time behind a wake boat knows the challenge: finding that perfect wave or wake isn't as simple as filling the ballast tanks and hitting the throttle.
Ballast placement, weight distribution, passenger load, speed, surf system settings, and hull characteristics all play a role. With so many variables, even small adjustments can mean the difference between an average ride and an incredible one.
That's why we created Wake Lab.
Wake Lab is a community-powered platform dedicated to solving one of wake sports' most persistent challenges: dialing in the perfect wake for your exact boat.
Instead of relying solely on endless trial and error, Wake Lab gives owners a place to document their boat's configuration, share actual ballast and surf settings, compare setups, and learn from others running the same or similar boats.
Members can post their setups, share photos and videos of their results, ask questions, and get real-world feedback from fellow enthusiasts who understand the nuances of their boats.
Whether you're looking for a longer, cleaner surf wave, more push, a steeper face, or the ideal wakeboard wake, Wake Lab brings the collective experience of the community together to help you fine-tune your ride.
Our vision is to build a growing library of real-world, boat-specific setups that makes finding your ideal configuration easier, faster, and more rewarding.
Because the perfect wake shouldn't be a guessing game. It should be something we figure out together.
